Hi Internet friends,
SOrry for being away. I got too angry and Randy suggested I ignore the news for a while. I reckon I did an all right job at that, my dog Larry and I went outside most every day. He chased rabbits and such and I did my darndest to place my focus on the people around me, which I suppose leads me back to you Internet void.
I don’t know if I’ve said it before, but I live out in West Texas. Most of us are conservatives. Many still call themselves Republican. I don’t any more. It’s not the party I grew up with because it’s not a party of Jesus and family values any more. I can’t support people who put party over family and God and country. I can’t support people who don’t respect the sacredness of human life.
We need to start calling these detention centers what they are — concentration camps. They are a concentration of people in a small space where they aren’t given water or soap. It don’t matter if they’re here illegally or legally or whether they commited crimes or whether they’re innocent. They are HUMAN LIVES and we need to make sure they can stay alive while they are detained.
Now, I don’t know what I think about that. They came illegally, so they shouldn’t come in, but Lord, they’re here and we need to treat their lives with respect. Especially those little kids. They didn’t choose to come here but here they are. Jesus says we need to take care of thy neighbor. He don’t say it, but we especially need to take care of our kids. We don’t know what made them come here, but it must be pretty dang bad if they’re coming here if they know they could end up being locked up, you know?
Hearing about these kids that don’t have access to water and soap really makes me angry and sad at these politicians. They need to stop caring about lining their pockets with money and remember that Jesus said to love everybody and treat them with respect.
Shut down the concentration camps. It’s not right.
Hi Internet friends,
I’m sorry I was away for so long. My wife thought it was best to stay away from writing these sorts of things online because of online dark hackers, but this past week has had me steaming.
As I’m sure y’all also feel this way but every time I turn on my television and see that there’s been another shooting, Lord, I just feel so bad and sad. I don’t know why this week feels so much worse, maybe because the shooting happened inside a House of God. But it got me thinking since I also know there was another terrorist in New York City the week before. I don’t see the difference between both men. Both were acts of extreme violence against innocent people. Both men were terrorists plane and simple.
I’ve been thinking about this long and hard and praying even harder. Something ain’t right here. I grew up around guns, my daddy grew up around guns and his daddy and I bet his daddy going back as far as the Powers name has been around. I believe in the second amendment and I don’t think the government should give a shit about what I do. Pardon my French. But something isn’t right here. And I’m not saying to ban guns but what I am saying is that the gun sellers have a duty to make sure that guns don’t end up in the hands of terrorists like in Texas or Las Vegas earlier.
I just wish people lived more in Christ’s example. The world would be a better place if we stopped thinking what’s best for us and started thinking what’s best for our neighbors. If we’re going to call brown guys who drive cars into crowds of people terrorists, we best damn sure call men who shoot disciples of Jesus Christ in churches terrorists too.
I was watching the television and I saw this awful mess going on in Charlottesville. Lord, I don’t know what’s happening to this country. I don’t know why people think that you can be a Nazi and you can be an American. We fought the Nazis in World War II. Naziism is un-American. America is the land of opportunity and freedom for EVERYONE.
Just like Jesus preached, love thy neighbor. Jesus prayed with everyone, regardless of who they were. Jesus didn’t tell us to love they neighbor except black people. Now, I don’t know what happened because I wasn’t there to see for myself, but there shouldn’t be any body in AMERICA saying people don’t belong here that are American. These white supremacists, Lord, help them see that God created them, too. We have to love all of God’s creation, because He created us ALL in His image. He didn’t create white people and then created black people or yellow people. No, the Good Lord created Adam and Eve and we are ALL – black, white, Mexican, everyone – are descendants from Adam and Eve.
So if America was created as the land for every one, why are the white supremacists angry at them? Now, slavery. As bad as that was, those black people are here because of un-Christianlike things my ancestors did and their ancestors did. This is their country too and we just have to share it.
I don’t know what’s real or not no more with all this fake news business but I do know one thing. Jesus told us to love every one and gosh darnit, that’s what we need to do as good conservative Christians. Nazis killed a lot of people in the name of ethnic cleansing and God also told us to not do that (The Ten Commandments). So don’t kill people and don’t hate people.
This is the post excerpt.
This is Chet Powers. My son, Randy set this up because he got tired of listening to me talk about politics to him. It don’t interest him much unfortunately.
Well Randy told me to write a bit about myself first before I start rambling about politics. My name is Chet Powers like I said. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life, trying my best to live in Christ’s example. I love my country and my family and I sure hate what’s happening to it all right now.
I am a conservative, which is why Randy and I named this Conservative Power Talk. I don’t know if I am a Republican any more.
Gosh, that was hard to write. I used to believe that the Republican party embodied traditional AMERICAN CHRISTIAN values, but now I ain’t too sure of that. Randy says that I can post things on here and it would be a good place to help people like me see that there are good Christian people still in the United States who believe in good conservative values that aren’t tied to a party that seems to not give a damn no more. Excuse my language, I get real worked up about this.
Well I’ll write more later. God Bless.
